This was a waste of money. It is not as kid-friendly as it should be given that it is advertised as a kids edition. Our 3 year old was able to quickly and easily exit the current game and disable the tablet by overloading it with downloading new games. I cannot believe there is not a child lock feature to lock it into one game on the model we purchased. It was very difficult to undo what our child quickly did. It is currently collecting dust as it does not work. We would not recommend this product at all.

So my kids got these for Christmas and I was so excited I have a kindle fire and a kindle paper white and love them. My husband wanted to get them android or iPads and I pushed for these because the way it was worded I thought I could use all the same features I have on my fire.... just left for a 23 hour car ride and NOTHING I downloaded on my profile and thought I downloaded on their tablets will work.... You can ONLY download on to their kids profile purchased tv and movies no streaming content even if you purchased rentals. You can not download “rented” material. So not only do my kids have nothing to do now for 23 hours in the car.... I waisted a lot of money renting videos they are not aloud to have access to..... i should have listened to my husband....

I get that Amazon wants us to consume their content. But the main reason I bought this table was so that my kids could use youtube kids. They can press a button and do a voice search for videos that they don't know how to type in or spell.

So now I have to go through and side load the play store to get youtube kids to work. BUT, once you do that, you can't put that app into the kid's profile so what ends up happening is that they have to use my main profile in order to use youtube kids. If they want to use their one year of free time then they have to switch to the kid's profile but then they don't get youtube kids.

    What a locked down clusterf*&k.

I also absolutely hate how you move around from home screen and back and forth. It is absolutely frustrating. I am used to Samsung products or even an Ipad that is much more intuitive

Please, before listening to the reviewers with 1 star be aware that they are having first world problems or are technologically challenged. The kindles are GREAT for children. If you are buying just for ONE specific app you need to check and make sure it is useable before purchasing (common sense). If the things you want are not available...the kindle may not be the right purchase for you! I think some of the “educational” items are questionable but it is easily adjusted by just blocking content you don’t want them to access. In example, I blocked everything spongebob related from my children. It seems most of these reviewers just didn’t know how to use the different settings in the right way to get the results they wanted. All of my children, nieces and nephews have these kindles, they use them an hour or less a day and have goals set. They can do a lot while off WiFi as well so we like to take them on longer car rides. I have kids aged 2-9 and can honestly say I feel that it is very exact for what kids those ages prefer. The greatest thing about these tablets is that when they grow out of the kiddie stuff they can still use these as regular tablets. Before you just throw one of these to your child thinking everything is ready to go, spend some time to go through the settings and content. Look at it and see if there is anything you need to adjust. This way you won’t be surprised if your 2 year old is watching shows more appropriate for 12 year olds. I was able to go onto amazon and add content (apps) that we wanted onto each of their profiles (in example, JellyTelly and ABC Mouse). The ONLY con I have for these: it seems when they have been updated some of the other kiddos profiles show up on the other kids kindles again after being hidden, BUT it’s easy to either hide them again from lock screen or just set a passcode for each child’s profile (we did this to ensure everyone stays on their own profiles)

Great tablets for kids and for great price, not sure why "Gift options not available". I was going to buy a pair of these for my niece and nephew and wanted to use the gift option so they are shipped unregistered but had to buy them separately for $99 each in order to get them unregistered really doesn't makes whole lot of sense. Thanks

I like this very much EXCEPT the sound quality is horrible. It is very hard to hear at all even with ear buds. Now one speaker is crackling and very annoying. Waiting to hear what tbey are going to do. The audio needs major improvement.

My kids really enjoy using them when they worked but as a parent it is really frustrating when they break for no reason. So far after 4 months they stopped charging, and I had to contact customer service to get them replaced (which was a big hassle with lots of questions asked), then I finally get it in, and instead of new kids kindles, they are refurbished with no case, usb charging cables, or adapter. There are important accessories missing, and now I have to contact customer service all over again.

    *sigh*
